About the Position: 

Strategic Communications and Brand Management plays an integral role in helping to shape and strengthen the institutions brand and advance in a wide range of institutional effectiveness. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Media Production Specialist I. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Media Production Specialist I plays a key role in bringing Cal State Fullerton’s visual storytelling to life. As a member of the Strategic Communications team, this position supports the planning, production, and organization of digital assets that elevate the university’s brand, strengthen marketing efforts, and enhance reputation-building initiatives. Works under the supervision of the Associate Director of Digital Media and provides assistance at every stage of the creative process — from pre-production logistics and studio coordination to post-production editing and digital asset organization. This position ensures that creative work runs smoothly, assets are well-maintained and accessible, and production operations remain efficient and high-quality. Working collaboratively with colleagues across marketing, editorial, social media, web, and media relations, the Media Production Specialist I contributes to every phase of production. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable and someone who can thrive behind the camera, in the editing suite, or coordinating multiple projects through to final delivery. Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field and six months of experience in still and motion picture photography, including a thorough knowledge of video production techniques. Working knowledge of techniques, materials and equipment used in the production of instructional media and related communication assignments. Working knowledge of full range of production techniques including sound recording, graphics, television, photography, videotaping, lighting, editing methods and equipment. Ability to set up and operate a wide variety of production equipment, including set-up for multi-camera video productions and distance learning classrooms. Ability to learn techniques in the development of television, film, radio or multimedia productions. Basic computer skills to operate digital and analog production-related editing and duplication equipment. Basic photography skills such as film speed, light, and color requirements.
