About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use):

13

The Team:

The Business Manager serves as the operating engine behind the Commercial organization, a $2 billion business at S&P Global. Reporting directly to S&P DJI Chief Commercial Officer, this individual owns the management system that keeps a large, complex, matrixed organization aligned and executing—the operating cadence, business reviews, cross-functional follow-through, priority tracking, and leadership communications.

Responsibilities and Impact:

The central purpose of this role is to create leverage and capacity at the top of the organization. By owning the internal management system and ensuring the business runs with discipline, the Business Manager enables the head of Commercial to spend materially more time in an external, face-of-the-business capacity—with the media, at industry events, and with our most important clients.

This is a high-trust, high-visibility role at the intersection of strategy and operations. The Business Manager translates leadership intent into structured execution, surfaces what leadership needs to see and decide, and creates leverage across the organization. Importantly, this role is designed as a leadership accelerator: the successful candidate will gain a panoramic view of the business and is expected to progress into a senior line or functional leadership role within the organization.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Serve as the connective tissue across the Commercial organization and key enterprise partners, including the Chief Client Office, the Enterprise Data Office, and our divisional partners.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives from concept through execution, ensuring alignment and preventing work from stalling between teams.

Stakeholder Management

  • Navigate a complex web of internal stakeholders across divisions, functions, and enterprise offices—building trust and alignment without relying on formal authority.

Follow-Through & Priority Tracking

  • Own the priority-tracking system—what was committed, by whom, by when, and what is at risk.
  • Convert leadership decisions into tracked actions with clear accountability and consistent follow-up.

Operating Cadence & Business Rhythm

  • Design and manage the operating calendar for the Commercial organization, including business reviews, leadership meetings, planning cycles, and offsites.
  • Ensure each forum has a clear purpose, the right inputs, and a decision-oriented agenda.

Leadership Communications

  • Draft, structure, and refine leadership communications, executive narratives, and enterprise-facing materials.
  • Ensure consistency and clarity of message across the organization.

Executive & External Engagement Preparation

  • Prepare the head of Commercial for high-stakes external engagements—including media interviews, industry panels and keynotes, and key client meetings—by synthesizing data, framing messages, developing talking points, and anticipating questions.
  • Ensure the leader's external presence is consistently sharp, well-supported, and aligned to the organization's strategic narrative.
  • Support internal executive preparation and both annual and quarterly planning, ensuring strategy translates into measurable operating commitments.
