Merrimack College is excited to announce an opportunity to contribute to the institution’s evolution into an outstanding regional research university. The School of Engineering and Computational Sciences invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue a research program that addresses interdisciplinary or applied areas such as quantum-AI hybrid systems, quantum algorithms, quantum cybersecurity, or AI-enhanced quantum simulations, establish or maintain an externally funded research program, and direct the research of students, as well as teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Merrimack is committed to growing focused areas of research distinction, enabling faculty to make high-impact contributions in their areas of expertise. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of a quantum computing hub at Merrimack College to facilitate faculty research and provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to contribute to the advancement of basic and applied science with real-world impact. As part of our strategic plan, the Agenda for the Future, we are on the path to achieving Carnegie R2 designation for high research productivity and have a vision to launch doctoral programs in applied engineering and computational sciences within the next five years. This faculty position will be integral to the College’s pursuit of R2 status and contribute to interdisciplinary research growth across the College.
