POSITION SUMMARY

The Dental Administrative Assistant is responsible for the front desk operation of the dental clinic. This entails all aspects of patient check-in and check-out including gathering and verifying all patient information, entering charges and collecting patient fees. This position will answer incoming phone calls, schedule patient appointments and prepare bank deposits. Must be a great team player, self-starter, work quickly and efficiently under pressure, have problem solving skills, excellent customer service skills and work well with a diverse population.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Director of Dental Operations. No other roles report to this position.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

While living and demonstrating our Core Values, the Dental Administrative Assistant will:

  • Actively participate in the achievement of patient satisfaction and office production goals by working efficiently and providing a high level of patient service
  • Verify patient demographics, ensure correct insurance information is on file and collect co-pays
  • Dental billing
  • Coordinate all aspects of patient care
  • Cheerfully greet and check-in patients
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Schedule appointments
  • Accurately maintain detailed patient records in a fast-paced environment
  • Perform clerical duties such as copying, faxing, filing, emailing, etc.
  • Professional demeanor throughout the work day
  • Assist with other duties as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year of medical or dental office experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with dental billing software preferred
  • Able to multi-task without losing quality work
  • Certified Dental Assistant is a PLUS, not required
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail
  • Must be reliable and punctual
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Must be able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with many changing priorities
  • Must be professional and customer service oriented to deliver quality excellent care
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and cover at other clinics when necessary
