About the role
Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant provides comprehensive clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient daily operation of the practice. This role serves as a key liaison between patients, providers, laboratory partners, and vendors while coordinating clinical workflows, patient scheduling, inventory management, and laboratory operations.
Job Duties:
- Coordinate laboratory operations by establishing and maintaining laboratory accounts, communicating with laboratory representatives, scheduling specimen pickups, and resolving laboratory-related issues.
- Provide clinical support by performing blood draws (phlebotomy), preparing patients for appointments, assisting providers as needed, and documenting patient information accurately in Athena EMR.
- Manage patient scheduling and communication by coordinating appointments, contacting patients regarding scheduling and follow-up needs, and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Oversee clinical and facility inventory by monitoring supply levels, maintaining inventory, preparing supply orders for management approval, and ensuring necessary materials are available for daily operations.
- Support administrative and operational functions in regards to scheduling, documentation, and workflow management, maintaining organized records, and assisting with office operations and process improvements.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to promote efficient workflows, regulatory compliance, and a positive patient experience.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification or equivalent clinical training preferred.
- Experience in a medical office or outpatient healthcare setting preferred.
- Certificate and proficiency in phlebotomy required.
