Description
Postdoctoral Researcher
A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Dr. James Colbert, in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study multiple projects focused on bacterial determinants of sepsis pathogenesis in susceptible populations. The Colbert Lab has several exciting projects related to the use of clinical microbiologic isolates to investigate bacterial genomic mediators of sepsis severity.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. Experience in microbiologic techniques including phenotypic testing of bacterial isolates, DNA isolation/ sequencing of individuals bacteria as well as polymicrobial bacterial communities (such as the gut microbiome), genetic manipulation (i.e. gene knockout) of various bacterial strains, and bioinformatics background is ideal.
