The Engineering Directorate is seeking a talented and dedicated Manager II for Field Engineering. This role will report directly to the Engineering Integration Division Manager and interface with Design Engineering Management, Project Engineering Management, Construction, and Facility Management. This role will be responsible for identification of the training necessary for the Field Engineering staff. The Manager will lead a diverse group of Field Engineers through the management and execution of work processes, ensuring the operational needs for facilities and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Day-to-Day management, leadership, and prioritization to the Field Engineering Department; assuring the applicable Engineering Procedures, Policies, and Practices are utilized in support of Field Engineering activities.
- Maintain Field Engineering manpower by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Interface directly with Construction and Project Management to determine resource allocation for projects.
- Maintain departmental capabilities for site wide support of lift plans.
- Ensure construction discipline engineers are meeting technical and quality standards as required by each project.
- Responsible for identifying and scheduling necessary training for staff to perform Field Engineering responsibilities.
- Responsible for managing a staff of 15 direct employees or more as well as staff augmentation resources to meet customer demand.
- Responsible for continually evaluating resource availability and reacting to customer demand by hiring employees and/or utilizing staff augmentation resources.
- Responsible for conducting annual performance evaluations, mid-year reviews, employee mentoring, coaching, and personnel development and growth.
- Responsible for interfacing with multiple Program Managers, Project Managers, Facility Engineering, and Construction Management.
- Responsible for providing status and tracking project performance against established goals and metrics.
- Duties include conducting Management Assessments, attending monthly project status meetings, developing and maintaining metrics, and other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for working with Project Controls to maintain resource-loaded P6 schedules to support current and new incoming projects.
- Establish and manage the construction document control center and oversee the change control process.
- Function as the department technical Interface with internal and external organization for field engineering performance, including safety and quality.
- Provide technical guidance to Field Procurement and technical support to the General Superintendents.
- Oversee performance for all design documents and deliverables from a construction perspective.
- Perform periodic reviews and rewrites of departmental processes and procedures to the latest company directives, national codes, and NNSA orders.
- Stand in as Construction manager as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 14 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering program or Professional Engineer license highly preferred.
- Must be eligible to obtain a DOE/NNSA Q Clearance.
