Software Engineer, Display Test

We are focused on pushing the boundaries of what a camera can be, specifically overlaying computing on the real world. Next Generation Spectacles are our first pair of glasses that bring augmented reality to life. 

We’re looking for a Software Engineer, Display Test to join the Snap Lab team at Snap Inc!

What you’ll do:

• Maintain and develop new features for a Python-based test framework for Spectacles test stations, including interfacing to new test equipment.

• Provide software support for technical research on Android and embedded Linux platforms, contributing to the development of innovative solutions.

• Manage infrastructure on Google Cloud to handle the flow of test and assembly data from both internal and external partners using Python.

• Develop internal tooling to aid cross-functional teams in performing root cause analysis of hardware and component issues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Fluent in Python 3 with the ability to develop scalable modules for use in a factory test setting.

• Fluent in a low level language, such as C, C++, Rust or Zig.

• Strong software architecture design skills.

• Expert in using Windows and Linux as development environments.

• Expert using command line tools.

• Proficient with git and using Github for collaboration.

• Familiarity with Android and/or embedded Linux development.

• Experience working with an RDBMS such as PostgreSQL

• Knowledge of Test Driven Development.

• Knowledge of  image processing and analysis algorithms.

• Experience working with issue tracking systems such as JIRA.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment using an Agile methodology.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience

• 3+ years of experience in display quality testing, tuning, and evaluation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with PostgreSQL databases.

• Experience with Android mobile development and Kotlin.

• Google Cloud DevOps experience including deploying web applications to Google AppEngine.

• Experience in firmware development.

• Previous experience working closely with optical engineers.
