Position Summary: Manage the Application Engineering Department at Lincoln Electric Automation Coldwater and Fort Loramie. Responsible for the quoting process of all System and Machines to be manufactured at LEA Coldwater and Fort Loramie as well as the Build to Print portion of the business. Includes the managing of the Individuals that perform this work as well as managing and developing the tools needed to perform this function.
Role qualifications:
- Must be familiar with Company quality objectives and play an active role in reaching continuous improvement objectives.
- A strong background in the engineering / concepting of automated turn-key manufacturing systems needed to support various production requirements within the Appliance, Automotive, Agricultural Industries
- Practical knowledge of the manufacturing disciplines used within a job shop environment.
- Focus on competence, awareness, and training of personnel.
- Understand and promote the positivity of impacting KPI’s.
Position responsibilities:
- Manage the Applications engineering team responsible for developing proposals for customers for LEA Coldwater and Fort Loramie.
- Assign projects and manage workflow thru the department.
- Provides leadership to maintain a culture that is driven to estimate projects with speed and agility with proper consideration to cost, schedule and scope.
- Compare various solutions for customers problems to identify which level of automation or complexity bests fits within proposal (customer’s solution)
- Concept the most effective method thru visual aids or descriptions to purvey the concept to the Customer, Sales team and Applications Engineering Team
- Use past experiences of machine design, assembly, and installation to generate hours estimates associated for accurate quotes and/or oversee team completing this activity.
- Encourages excellence, drives accountability and a sense of urgency.
- Manages team capacity and competency to support the needs of the business.
- Manages productivity of the Applications Engineering Department
- Review customer needs and budget to confirm opportunity worthwhile to pursue.
- Support the quoting process by offering concept ideas that can be successfully engineered and have realistic delivery, quality and cost targets.
- Work with Supply Chain Team for new and existing suppliers to source components and services.
- Ability to access new technologies that support or build competitive advantages.
- Keeps self and team current with technology and industry practices.
- Provide technical assistance to other departments as needed or assigned.
- Supervise the Order Entry process and personnel.
Essential skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is Required.
- 3-5 years’ experience in the machine tool and industrial automation market Required.
- Supervisory experience with P&L and business unit or engineering personnel Preferred.
- Practiced knowledge of various manufacturing technologies Preferred.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with external and internal technical resources

- Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job.
- Be aware of OSHA & EPA laws and regulations as well as the Company’s Plant Rules and Regulations that pertain to this job.
- Work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner and observe all company EHS procedures.
- Know that the company EHS procedures are located on the ISO drive.
- Immediately notify the Manager if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly, or if there are any questions regarding EHS procedures.
