Job Summary:

We are looking for someone to perform a driver role and help as a laborer. They would be responsible for safely operating a vehicle and for transporting products to and from Lane facilities and customers, providing superior customer service along, assigned routes.  During down time they will be performing a variety of tasks. These tasks may include assisting with extra workload, covering absences and vacations, and maintaining a clean working environment. This position could develop into a full-time driver position in the future.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Transport finished goods and raw materials, to and from Lane manufacturing plants and job sites.

· Manage daily driver’s electronic log, plan routes and meet delivery schedules.

· Comply with Department of Transportation rules and regulations for size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods as well as with company policies and procedures.

· Perform required pre and post trip vehicle inspections identifying any potential mechanical or safety issues. 

· Must maintain truck, trailer, and securement devices in a neat and orderly fashion.

· Maintain vehicle logbook and retain fuel/toll receipts to account for all miles driven. Report downtime availability to your immediate Supervisor.

· Ensure that all parts being picked up from a vendor or customer are accounted for and reflected on the packing list and/or invoice before you sign for them.

· Secure load to DOT requirements, using proper flagging methods and tarp when required.

· Ensure that you obtain a receipt for all parts being returned to a vendor.

· Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions and must obey all yard and worksite safety rules.

· Couple and uncouple semi-trailers as required.

· Operate vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all traffic rules regulations and laws. 

· Report defects, accidents, or violations to your immediate supervisor regardless of damage to any vehicle or if a citation was issued.

· Must maintain a clean, professional, appearance at all times.

· Cleans and lubricates equipment, maintains a manufacturing area free from debris and dirt, and readies or puts away tools as assigned.

· Cares for property by cutting grass, repairing yard, pulling and discarding weeds, or shoveling and removing snow.

· May be trained to act as forklift operator when normal operator is out.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 Required Skills & Abilities:

· Proven work experience as a Commercial Truck Driver, including 2 years verifiable driving experience and be 23 years of age.

· Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations. 

· No “major violations” as defined as FMCSA.

· No serious violations in the last 5 years as defined by FMCSA.

· Two or less preventable commercial accidents in the last 3 years.

· Must be licensed on, and able to drive trucks with manual transmissions.

· Must be comfortable operating a tri-axle truck.

Education and Experience:

· High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education preferred.

· Two years’ experience driving a flatbed truck.

Physical Requirements:

· Current CDL Driver’s License and DOT driver’s physical card.

· Must be able to pass pre-employment and random DOT drug and alcohol testing as well as 3-year motor vehicle check (MVR).

· Ability to drive up to 11 hours per day, be on duty and travel regularly within DOT Hours of Service, rules.

· Ability to lift, up to 100 pounds.

· Ability to climb, and work on the trailers to assist loading and unloading. 

· Must be able to throw securement straps or chains over the load to secure as needed.

· Must be able to bend and stoop to facilitate loading and unloading the truck.

· Prolonged periods standing and walking.

· Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.

· Ability to climb, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, and reach above shoulder level.

· Ability to withstand varying temperatures.
