About the Role
Blue Man Group, part of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, is seeking a skilled and reliable Assistant Props Technician for the 2026 A New Holiday Surprise Touring production.
The Assistant Props Technician plays an essential role in ensuring the smooth execution of all prop-related show elements. Working under the direction of the Head of Props, this position is responsible for maintaining, preparing, and operating show props and consumables, running assigned tracks during performances, and assisting with prop load-ins, repairs, and daily maintenance. The position may also step in as a swing, supporting other departments—including Video, Carpentry, and LX and wardrobe —when coverage is needed. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced touring environment.

Qualifications
- Execute prop tracks as assigned, including preset, show cues, shoe cues, turnovers, and post-show duties in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.
- Work closely with the Head of Props to ensure consistency and accuracy in all show-related elements.
- Participate in daily maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of props and consumables.
- Troubleshoot and resolve prop or cue-related issues quickly to minimize performance disruption.
- Assist with adapting prop setups and tracks to venue-specific layouts and conditions.
- Support special events, press appearances, and promotional performances as required.
- Assist in the repair, upkeep, and fabrication of props, scenic elements, and consumables as directed by the Head of Props.
- Maintain and organize prop workspaces, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and ready for transport.
- Support inventory tracking, labeling, and restocking of consumables.
- Assist in maintaining and updating maintenance logs and prop documentation.
- Participate in all prop-related load-in and load-out activities, ensuring efficient setup and tear-down at each venue.
- Assist with packing, labeling, and transportation of props and consumables between cities.
- Lend support to other departments during load-in and load-out as needed.
- Maintain clear communication with the Head of Props and department heads during transitions between tour stops.
- Adhere to all Blue Man Group and CDSEG health and safety policies, always ensuring safe working practices.
- Follow established protocols for handling, cleaning, and transporting props, tools, and materials.
- Support a positive backstage culture by promoting teamwork, respect, and open communication across departments.
- Immediately report any safety concerns, equipment issues, or performance hazards to the Head of Props.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and proactive with excellent communication skills.
- Calm and focused under pressure with strong troubleshooting ability.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, venues, and production needs.
- Works well independently and as part of a collaborative touring team.
- Upholds the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and discretion.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in theatrical run crew, props, or technical production.
- Strong hands-on technical and fabrication skills, including experience with common theatrical materials, tools, and adhesives.
- Ability to read and follow cue sheets, track notes, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a clear understanding of live performance operations.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, painting, and pneumatics a plus.
