Senior Improvement Leader, Practice Operations

The Senior Improvement Leader partners with leaders and team members at all levels to drive measurable, sustainable results aligned with Indiana University Health’s systemwide and regional priorities. This role deploys strategic improvement programs and facilitates breakthrough performance for highly complex, crossfunctional initiatives.

The Senior Improvement Leader strengthens organizational capability by developing and embedding a Lean Management System—grounded in Toyota Production System principles and High Reliability Organization practices—with leaders and team members. Additionally, the Senior Improvement Leader provides guidance and support to less experienced team members, modeling Indiana University Health values and serving as a resource to elevate improvement practices across the organization.

 

Key Relationships

Reports to: Director of Operational Excellence- System Services

 

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience is required.
  • Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • 5-7 years relevant LEAN experience with complex matrix organization leading through influence is required.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience with complex matrix organizations is required.
  • Project management experience required. 
  • Experience utilizing techniques (at least 4 of the following) such as: VSM/VSA, DMAIC, Scientific thinking, operating systems, Training w/in Industry (TWI), 3P, various problem-solving tools, system thinking, Just Culture, High Reliability Organization (HRO), SIPOC and FMEA is preferred.
  • Requires basic proficiency in MS Office.
