Position Overview
Tilcon Connecticut Inc. is seeking an experienced Assistant Supervisor of Quality Control for our Connecticut locations. This Individual will oversee the testing for construction projects and production of Hot Mix Asphalt, aggregate, density, laboratory testing and mix design. Applicants must have experience testing various materials on construction projects and in laboratory settings; including Hot-Mix Asphalt, aggregates, aggregate sampling and density testing. Additionally, experience in developing and monitoring mix designs in both Marshall and Superpave applications is highly encouraged. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Applicant must be a team player willing to help find solutions, detail oriented, able to read and interpret material specifications, able to work in a physical and fast-paced manufacturing / construction environment and comply with all Tilcon Connecticut safety requirements.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Job Duties:
- Coach, mentor and develop staff including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
- Recordkeeping of all testing and inspection data
- Maintenance of lab equipment and arranging for calibrations, preventative maintenance repair and/or adjustments
- Monitor and analyze quality data and processes and notify management of quality problems
- Assure compliance with Tilcon Connecticut Quality Control Manuals
- Interact with customers, managers, vendors and agencies
- Coordinate quality control objectives with production procedures in order to minimize cost and maximize product reliability
- Supervise and manage day to day activities of a team from 5 - 8 quality control technicians
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Supervisors to increase quality of product and services in the most efficient manner
- Development and testing of raw materials
- Adjust to changing demands on a daily basis.
- Delegate responsibilities & expect accountability

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
- New England Transportation Technician Plant and paving inspector Certifications are required
- Associates or bachelor’s degree is desirable. Training programs are available for qualified candidates.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of previous supervisory experience.
- Must have a clear DMV record.
- Must be proficient in the use of MS Office.
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative style.
- Ability and willingness to give and receive honest, balanced feedback.
- Ability to act in a professional manner with customers and represent Tilcon in a character that inspires trust.
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA, MSHA, and state age
