This role is a part of the Test Operations team, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the design, build, and maintenance of the ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations.

As part of a unique and highly-skilled team, you’ll perform environmental testing of flight hardware. In this hands-on position you’ll work directly with a diverse and small team operating and maintaining the environmental test equipment while conducting development, qualification and acceptance testing of flight hardware.

Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Conduct hands-on shock, vibration, thermal, humidity and vacuum testing on flight hardware in accordance with MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016 and MIL-STD-1540 

  • Operate test consoles and work with a team of engineers & technicians to execute component level testing 

  • Ensure all operations are performed safely, on time and in a professional manner 

  • Work with test, flight and safety critical hardware, tools and shop equipment 

  • Setup and safely operate high energy systems (e.g. high pressure gases, cryogenics and electrical) 

  • Operate and maintain environmental test equipment including data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, vibration systems and instrumentation 

  • Conduct and/or oversee several test projects simultaneously while supporting operation schedules 

  • Configure test setups, fixtures and instrumentation per test plans and standards 

  • Review test documentation for test readiness 

  • Maintain cleanliness of test equipment and test lab 

  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule and technical risks 

  • Participate in Process/Job Hazard Assessments/Test Readiness Reviews 

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • 0+ years of experience with the following:  test stand operations, major system operations, working with similar test equipment (vibration tables) 

  • Extensive background and direct hands-on experience with shock and vibration testing required. 

  • Experience troubleshoot and diagnosing off-nominal vibration scenarios. 

  • B.S. degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program(Mechanical, or Physics desired) 

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering data, drawings, standards and technical requirements 

  • Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations 

  • Weekend shifts or overtime are frequently
