Instructional Assistant, Kindergarten (NE) (2024-2025) - St. Michael-St. Clement School, Overlea MD

We are seeking candidates for an Instructional Assistant, Elementary School. She/he will provide support to teachers in a classroom setting. This support can include tasks such as grading assignments, preparing materials for class, and providing one-on-one assistance to students who may need additional help. In addition to this the assistant helps prepare materials for lessons, reinforces the ideas and topics presented by the teacher and assists in helping the children establish their day to day routine.

 

Essential Functions:

• Cultivate a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning
• Prepare and organize age appropriate materials and resources for students
• Assists students with technology or other audio equipment 
• Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management
• Ensures that arrival and dismissal procedures are conducted in a safe and orderly manner
• Work collaboratively with other teachers, assistants, staff and administration
• Participate in all faculty meetings, retreats, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities as directed by the administration
• Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with the school community
• Support or work with students in small groups as designated by the teacher

 

Position Qualifications:

• Minimum high school diploma and 90 hour child care certification.
• Experience in a Catholic School setting
• An appreciation for young students and their families.
• Must be an active Practicing Catholic
