Job Description Summary

The Senior Counsel, Aerospace Digital provides ongoing legal advice and support to business leaders across the Digital organization of GE Aerospace. The Legal Contract and Compliance team, of which you would be a part, is a dynamic experienced group of commercial and legal professionals who serve as GE Aerospace’s internal subject matter authorities on all legal matters. The senior counsel hired for this role will be a sophisticated, business-oriented attorney who can work effectively across all levels of the organization. Within this role you will report to the General Counsel, Global Security & Digital and Chief Privacy Officer for the Aerospace business. Your primary focus will be supporting business leaders focused on software, SaaS, and other technology-related agreements.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations for software licensing, SaaS, and other technology-related agreements on a global scale. 

• Provide expert legal advice on software licensing models, partnership strategies, customer tenders (including FAA), and communication/marketing. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align legal strategies with business objectives. 

• Analyze and advise on regulatory and compliance issues related to software license, SaaS, and other technology-related agreements. 

• Provide legal guidance and advice on complex legal, regulatory, and policy questions in the areas of digital technology and data analytics.  

• Proactively determine the business impact and compliance strategies for new regulations related to software and other digital products.  

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external legal partners and customers. 

• Monitor compliance with relevant internal business and legal processes and policies. 

• Acts with humility, leads with transparency, and delivers with focus. 

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree from accredited university 

• Minimum 8 years of privacy and/or cyber experience 

• Member in good standing with the State Bar  

• Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience  

Eligibility Requirements: (Country Specific)

Desired Characteristics:  

• Experience in-house or law firm strongly preferred. 

• Proactive and defined self-starter with superior communication skills. 

• Experience working on a wide range of technology transactions including but not limited to SaaS, licensing, hardware, and other technology licenses. 

• Innovative, forward-thinking, and results-oriented with a passion to solve complex problems in a creative and pragmatic way and to translate laws and regulations into actionable policies and procedures that enable business objectives. 

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
