Location: Kuwait City, Kuwait
Job Purpose
The Dean of the School of Engineering provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership to advance the mission of AIU’s engineering programs. The Dean is responsible for academic quality, faculty development, accreditation, research promotion, and operational management of all engineering programs, ensuring excellence in education, innovation, and institutional growth.
Key Responsibilities
A. Academic Leadership & Program Management
- Oversee all engineering degree programs, including Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.
- Lead curriculum development, course scheduling, academic planning, and continuous program assessment.
- Ensure alignment with American higher education standards and accreditation requirements, including ABET and institutional accreditation.
B. Faculty Management
- Supervise full-time and adjunct faculty, including recruitment, evaluation, mentoring, and professional development.
- Lead faculty hiring processes and succession planning for academic leadership roles within the School.
C. Accreditation, Quality & Assessment
- Oversee program review, learning outcomes assessment, and academic quality assurance.
- Ensure compliance with U.S.-based academic standards and specialized engineering accreditation frameworks.
D. Research & Strategic Initiatives
- Promote research, innovation, and scholarly activity among faculty and students.
- Engage with industry partners and advisory boards to drive applied research and external collaboration.
- Maintain and develop the School’s Engineering Advisory Committee.
E. Budget & Resource Management
- Manage the School’s operational budget, resource allocation, and long-term planning.
- Support infrastructure development, laboratory enhancements, and academic resources.
F. Institutional Participation & Governance
- Represent the School in academic councils, university committees, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Contribute to university-wide development as AIU continues to grow as a dynamic institution.
G. Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong leadership with demonstrated experience in academic administration.
- Proven ability to foster collaborative decision-making and faculty engagement.
- Experience in a multicultural and multilingual academic environment.
- Excellent communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience with accreditation standards and academic quality processes.
Education and Experience
- Doctoral degree in an engineering discipline or closely related field from a reputable university.
- Current academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
- Minimum six (6) years of teaching and research experience in higher education.
- Documented experience in academic administration and budget management.
- Demonstrated involvement in research, accreditation, or institutional development.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to academic excellence.
