About the role
The Electrical Field Engineer is a technical lead on industrial construction and fabrication projects. They are responsible for electrical, instrumentation, and fire & gas scope. They provide direct support to both staff and craft personnel.
Essential Job Functions:
- Become familiar with project specifications, drawings, and contract.
- Assist with job estimating using job estimating software. Perform job and task scheduling, construction tool/equipment selection, and plan the construction means & methods. Advise the project scheduler on upcoming work.
- Perform material take-offs and scrubs. Quote and requisition materials.
- Prepare tag lists, nameplate schedules, and turnover packages. Maintain project logs. Write and distribute project reports.
- Identify, engage, and oversee subcontractors required for the project.
- Learn, advise, and assist the Quality Control process and the Turnover process.
- Identify and mitigate any health, safety, or environmental hazards.
- Write requests for information (RFI’s). Track and address RFI responses, to include submittal of Change Orders, Field Material Requests, redline markups, and briefing craft personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Position will require work in Anchorage and/or deployment to the North Slope. The North Slope deployments may be irregular or may be rotational (such as 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off). Deployment schedules depend on employee preference and on each project’s length.
Qualifications:
- If education is High School Diploma / GED: Electrical Journeyman License required, and 5 years of electrical field experience in either heavy industry or construction is required.
- If education is Associates or 2yr Technical Degree in an E/I/F&G-related field: 3 years of electrical field experience required, in either heavy industry or construction.
- If education is BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field: 1 year of electrical field experience required, in either heavy industry or construction.
- Experience working in cold weather (<20F), and knowledge of the effects of cold weather on operating instrumentation and electrical mechanisms.
- Familiarity with NEC.
- Proven fluency with computers, including ability to quickly learn new software systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Current and valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- NSTC certification with 2022 ASH and H2S module, or ability to obtain upon hire (1-day online course).
- Preference will be given to Alaska residents or to applicants willing to relocate to Alaska.
- Preference will be given to applicants with any of the following: North Slope experience; previous field/project engineer experience in construction; Electrical Journeyman license; EIT or PE registration; Electrical Administrator License; NICET and/or AK Fire Systems certification; or experience with Sharepoint, Bluebeam, estimating software, AutoCAD, P6, or BIM software.

- Strong written and verbal communication. The ability to communicate clearly is essential.

Pay:
- $105,000.00 - $210,000.00
