Job Description

The Manager of Emergency Department Registration is categorized as an Essential Employee and will be responsible for the 24/7 daily operations of approximately 100,000 registrations in the Emergency Department annually. The Manager will enable appropriate patients and families to access hospital services in an efficient and timely manner.  The manager is also responsible for the administrative bed control activities for all hospital beds.  The position will manage the following duties to include accurate patient identification and registration of patients, insurance verification, up-front collections, and screening of uninsured/or underinsured patients.  The position also works collaboratively with management of Business Office, HIM and ED nursing and clinical staff to ensure their needs are met.

 

Duties also include: responsibility for administering hospital and department policies and procedures, complaint resolution, control of financial reimbursement as it relates to patient access activities and providing management support to patient registration activities and the service that exhibits an outstanding positive image to the public.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

Certification from AAHAM or NAHAM encouraged.

Three years related healthcare experience, two of which are in patient access (preferably in a hospital setting) required. 

Three years of managerial experience in patient access or revenue cycle functions are required.
