This role is ideal for a technology professional who thrives in secure, mission-critical environments and is passionate about delivering robust Windows-based infrastructure solutions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the architecture, deployment, and sustainment of systems that align with federal IT and cybersecurity standards, including FISMA, FedRAMP, and DoD compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022).
- Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and Windows Clustering.
- Automate operational processes using PowerShell scripting.
- Apply system hardening in accordance with DISA STIGs and NIST 800-53 security controls.
- Perform patching, updates, and maintenance on Windows servers and workstations within secure networks.
- Support virtualized infrastructure using Hyper-V and VMware; integrate with cloud services such as Azure and AWS GovCloud.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability management, incident response, and compliance audits.
- Participate in configuration and change management processes.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
OR 4+ years of additional experience in lieu of a degree - 7+ years of experience in Windows engineering or systems administration
- Proven expertise in:
- Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
- Active Directory in complex environments (e.g., multi-domain forests)
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Group Policy design and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, and RMF
- Solid understanding of networking principles and enterprise security integration
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (or equivalent certification)
- Experience with:
- Azure AD, Azure Government, or AWS GovCloud
- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
- Endpoint management tools like SCCM/MECM or Microsoft Intune
