Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid role based out of our Houston Office.

SCOPE:

The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining security solutions, security architectures, technical security standards, and technical security baselines. These may include but are not limited to network security, endpoint security, detection & response, web, data, and cloud security controls. The role is both advisory and technical, and candidates must possess a solid understanding of cybersecurity and have held positions in cybersecurity.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical expertise and direction in building and supporting security solutions to ensure they operate effectively while meeting business needs.
  • Contribute to the design, development and implementation of countermeasures, systems integration, and tools specific to cyber and information operations.
  • Promote and design process improvements, automation, and risk reduction.
  • Proactively identify risks and remedial actions that apply to technologies for business processes.
  • Provide engineering oversight during security incidents, processes, and escalations to determine the root cause and extent of the incidents.
  • Create and maintain documentation requested by management and improve such documentation as required.
  • Execute vulnerability analysis of applications, operating systems and networks, and provide recommendations of security controls to help prevent, detect or mitigation security issues.
  • Support various cybersecurity monitoring and auditing activities.
  • Complete work in a timely manner with a high degree of quality.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Any special skills/training/certifications:
    • CISSP, GSEC, GCED, or similar industry certifications
    • Experience with Azure, Office365, and distributed enterprises.
    • Experience with multiple cybersecurity technologies, such as Okta, Proofpoint, Tanium, CrowdStrike, or Zscaler.
    • Understanding of Windows and Linux security principles.
    • Solid understanding of networking concepts and system administration.
    • Strong knowledge and proficiency with Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
    • Technical writing and presentation skills, with the ability to provide timely, clear, and complete communication and documentation.
    • Experience with programming and/or scripting.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Travel: Up to 10% by land and/or air.
  • Weekend/late night work is required: Ocassionally
  • Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long period, stand, walk, talk and/or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
