Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced BIM CAD Modeler to be based in Los Angeles, California for East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit project, with a focus on the Structures Discipline.
JOB INFORMATION:
While the position is primarily for East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project, AECOM has an impressive backlog of significant transportation projects in the Greater Los Angeles area and transit/rail projects across West Region and provides exceptional opportunity for professional growth. This position is based out of our Downtown Los Angeles office location and requires full time office presence through the design duration of the project, expected for 18 months.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing Building Information Modelling (BIM) models for the discipline of civil-structures associated with transportation infrastructure (bridges, viaducts, culverts, etc), typically from LOD 200 to LOD 350 using the standards and content to meet client's digital delivery.
- Assistance with developing digital workflows for BIM structural scope.
- Drafting/modelling of 2D drawings to 3D models.
- Taking responsibility for the technical quality of project BIM model.
- Compliance with project objectives and quality standards.
- Leading and assisting the CAD technician and work closely with the engineering team to implement the BIM requirement.
- Ensuring 100% BIM compliance on all projects. Take lead in enhancing the digital delivery within utilities team.
- Collaboratively working with various engineering disciplines, participating in model coordination meetings, and aspiring to deliver high quality, clash free models.
- Coordinating models with internal and external parties.
- Investigating model constructability issues and propose solutions.
- Creating new library components for bridge, and civil-structures scope, as needed.
- Providing training and technical guidance to CAD technician and engineers in the use of the latest BIM tools.
- Staying up to date with advancements in BIM technology and industry standards.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years experience in Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360 and ProjectWise.
- 5+ years of related design experience in Rail and Transit Systems.
- Experience in preparing minimum LOD 300 REVIT and exposure to AutoCAD drafting is required.
- Experience in documentation (3D and 2D), general arrangement drawings and reinforcement drawings.
- Knowledge of Tekla or other structural analytical software is required.
- Experience in Precast & Steel Structures will be an advantage.
- Experience in BIM management and exposure to CDE will be preferred as additional skills.
- Experience in Bridge and infrastructure modelling and detailing is mandatory.
- Candidate should be self-motivated, team player and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Must have supervisory experience, and extensive experience of working with CAD / Production team.

- Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $106,800 to $197,580.
