About the team

Our Data Services Team is at the forefront of our mission, playing a critical role in building dynamic and scalable, storage and information retrieval systems. The team’s expertise enables Granica to securely deploy distributed, resilient, and reliable data services that cater to diverse data modalities essential for modern enterprises operating at petabyte scales in the cloud.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will take ownership of designing, developing, and optimizing large-scale distributed systems within  production environments. Emphasizing customer focus, you'll translate enterprise-level use cases and performance requirements into programming specifications.

Your work will entail developing responsive systems that scale according to demand and collaborating with researchers to deploy novel algorithms. You will also troubleshoot system issues, resolve performance bottlenecks, and participate in a shared on-call rotation to maintain our systems' reliability.

The role is based in Mountain View, CA with a hybrid work model of three days on-site per week. We provide relocation assistance for new hires.

Who you are

Minimum Qualifications 

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in a mission-critical production environment
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: Java, Python, Go, C++, Rust, or similar
• Experience in designing and implementing distributed systems
• Experience working with Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, or similar distributed storage systems
• Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a deep respect for the power of teamwork
• A passion for learning and problem-solving, with the ability to navigate ambiguous situations

Preferred Qualifications 

• Ability to design and build dynamic, resilient, and scalable storage and retrieval systems 
• Prior experience in data privacy, data governance, and/or data platform engineering
• Knowledge of system profiling and distributed cache implementations
• Comfortability with documentation, design, databases, systems development, multi-threaded development, and memory and performance optimization
• Experience with building systems that supported machine learning and AI infrastructures

Pay And Benefits 

The base salary for this role is between $120,000 to $200,000. For sales positions at Granica, the salary range mentioned encompasses the On Target Earnings ("OTE") range specific to each role. This means that the range covers both the target for sales commissions or bonuses, as well as the annual base salary for the role. It is important to note that this salary range applies to various career levels within Granica and will be further refined during the interview phase, taking into account factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location. In addition to base salary, this role will receive a competitive equity compensation package.
