The Mechanical Engineering department at Colorado School of Mines is hiring for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to perform research and development on solid-oxide fuel cells and high-temperature catalysis for energy and chemical conversion applications.Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute physical experiments on electrochemical performance of solid-oxide fuel cells
- Perform research and material analysis of high-temperature catalytic reactors for fuel processing and oxidation
- Present results to external funding sources through written reports and presentations
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Background in solid-oxide fuel cells and electrolyzers in the laboratory environment
Preferred Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Experience operating high-temperature reacting flow systems
- Knowledge of electrochemistry and catalysis with testing experience in both.
Certifications and Licenses:
- SolidWorks drawing capabilities but no certification required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good analytical and modeling skills for high-temperature catalytic reactors and solid oxide fuel cells.
Potential Environmental Conditions/Hazards:
- Laboratory environment includes safe handling of delicate fuel cells and electrolyzers, careful operation of complex electrochemical test stands, and utilization of gas cylinders pressurized up to 3,000 psi. Employee will be trained through established Mines safety procedures provided and tracked by Mines Office of Environmental Health and Safety.

Annual Rate
$65,000 to $70,000
Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
