About our Applications Engineer opportunity

The Applications team builds the systems that connect Liftoff publishers with advertisers and manages the applications,  campaigns, creatives (bonus points for knowing what all that means) and everything else that feeds into our ad serving pipeline.

We’re a group of Full-Stack Engineers. We are creating amazing front-ends for the biggest publishers/advertisers in mobile. We want you to hit the ground running and begin adding new features within a couple of weeks but don’t worry, the team will help you get up to speed!

So what’s the day-to-day look like? It’s a lot of coding, a decent amount of code reviews and unit testing, some discussions with end users and product teams, and most importantly, very few meetings. We want engineers who are looking to grow, build awesome features, and play a role in the expansion of our team. 

LOCATION

We are open to placing this role remotely in any of our US entities as long as you are (1) able to work Pacific time zone hours and (2) willing to travel to the SF Bay Area for in-person meetings as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Take ownership and work with various product management, development and quality assurance groups in a fast-paced environment
• Design, develop and deploy reusable front-end components to enhance our customer and internal-facing web applications.
• Work with our product team (designers and product managers) to build user-focused features/tools/systems
• Contribute to and improve accessibility of the self-serve platform by working directly with internal clients to develop interfaces that are user-friendly
• Implement controls within the interfaces team for engineers to have more control over their own deployments utilizing the custom testing framework.
• Focusing on code readability, performance, testing, documentation, continuous integration
• Become familiar with core development, product release and its business
• Implementing new features and streamlining existing services
• Minimizing complexity and increasing shared understanding
• Mentor and share knowledge with team members.
• PagerDuty on-call rotation

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of professional experience; or Master’s Degree in Computer Science with 2+ years of relevant work experience
• Proficient with JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, Node.js, React
• Experience working in an Agile(ish) development team.
• Experience working with a design (mock) and transforming it to code
• Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures, and algorithms
• Knowledge of profiling and debugging web applications, and API servers
• Experience in building low-latency, high-throughput API services
• Experience in Go, Scala, Clojure, or Python
• Experience in front-end architecture, building responsive single page web application
• Have good team communication and collaboration skills.
• Passionate about helping others and invested in the team’s success

NICE TO HAVE

• Previous experience in ad tech
• Built large scale applications with Next.js, Svelte, or similar UI framework.
• Work experience in SQL or NoSQL such as Redis, MongoDB, Dynamodb, Postgres
• Experience with API technologies gRPC, REST, and GraphQL
• Experience building data-intensive web applications
• Experience with distributed system observability metrics, using it for data driven design decisions
• Experience in testing frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, Test Library, Jest, etc
• Jenkins/TravisCI, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Github
• ML, Tensorflow
