Qualifications, Education, Skills, and Abilities
• High School Diploma Required. Associate's degree preferred
• Two years of experience in effective office practices and procedures
• Strong office management experience
• Ability to utilize Word, Excel, and have familiarity using various databases
• Ability to manage confidential information
• Excellent ability to manage time and anticipate deadlines
• Strong verbal communication and human relations skills
• Strong consideration for bilingual applicants
• Strong computer experience, specifically Microsoft Office software
• Ability to multitask in a calm manner in a dynamic environment
Essential Job Functions
• Assist communication with the school bus fleet and schools using bus radio.
• Acts as Charles County Public Schools liaison with the Vehicular Insurance Company. Collects
documents and submits all system-related accident information to MABE and insurance providers.
• Acts as a Charles County Public Schools liaison with MVA in scheduling inspections and processing
all documentation regarding the three (3) annual bus inspections.
• Maintain the monthly MSDE driver/attendant upload.
• Manage the MDOT/MVA driver monitoring database.
• Maintains accurate inventory of all Charles County Public School-owned vehicles and contractor
owned school buses.
• Verifies all bus contractor employee benefits and insurance requirements.
• Provides administrative support to the Specialists in Transportation.
• Acts as the department liaison with schools and divisions regarding the use of system-owned vehicles
• Collects, records, and submits information pertaining to state various state reports
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to
visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move)
light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger
dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
