Purpose:

This position will serve as regional and statewide support for the implementation of Wabanaki Studies in alignment with the Maine Learning Results across PreK-12 classrooms. This position is responsible for relationship cultivation and management between the Department of Education, Tribal Nations, and Maine schools to ensure the development, dissemination, and delivery of Wabanaki Studies materials that have been created in community with these and other invested parties. In addition, the Wabanaki Studies Specialist is responsible for promotion and outreach regarding Wabanaki Studies (e.g., social media, news releases, website updates, conference presentations, trainings, virtual office hours) and the position requires frequent communication with educators, administrators, Tribal Citizens, and members of other State of Maine Agencies. Work is performed in collaboration with other members of the Maine DOE and is executed under limited supervision. Extensive use of technology, statewide/national travel, and field assignments are required for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced education, training, and/or experience in Education, Human Resource Development, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field
