Role Overview

Coupang is seeking a seasoned governance and compliance leader to join our new AI GRC team.  This role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives at the intersection of AI governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and business enablement.  You will help shape the foundation of AI governance at Coupang, ensuring responsible and compliant use of AI while enabling and guiding AI development across the company. 

In this role, you will work closely with AI and technology leaders, security architects, Legal, and Compliance teams to build scalable, business-aligned AI governance programs.  You will translate complex regulatory and risk requirements into actionable frameworks that support innovation, responsible AI and technology use, accelerate AI development, maintain trust, and ensure accountability across the Coupang Group. 

What You Will Do 

• Lead and evolve Coupang’s AI governance and compliance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures that support business priorities, regulatory obligations, and AI development initiatives. 
• Partner with AI, technology, and security architecture leaders to embed governance and risk management into AI systems, enabling safe, scalable innovation. 
• Drive the development and implementation of responsible AI frameworks with stakeholders across Legal, Tech, InfoSec, Privacy, and Compliance. 
• Own the AI policy lifecycle, ensuring policies remain current, accessible, and effectively adopted. 
• Establish and scale AI governance models enterprise-wide in partnership with InfoSec, Legal, Technology, Privacy, and Business leadership. 
• Contribute to strategic programs such as AI risk management and AI development enablement initiatives through structured governance operations. 
• Monitor industry standards, internal needs, and global AI regulatory trends to continuously enhance Coupang’s AI governance and compliance practices. 
• Run AI governance and technology committees, ensuring alignment across stakeholders and facilitating decision-making. 

Basic Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in information security, policy, law, risk management, or a related field. 
• 4 years of experience in governance, compliance, or risk, with a proven record of leading cross-functional initiatives. 
• Expertise in AI governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management frameworks. 
• Strong collaboration skills with experience partnering with AI, Technology, Security Architecture, Privacy, Legal, and Business leaders. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex policy and governance topics to diverse audiences. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience in a high-growth, multinational, or tech-driven environment. 
• Leadership or team-building experience within a governance, GRC, or AI risk/compliance function. 
• Relevant certifications in AI governance,
