Software Engineer II - R&D Unpublished Product

Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work in a variety of broader domains. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll also dive into projects that focus on team cohesiveness and cross-team objectives. You’ll drive tooling features and provide other engineers with a clear illustration of extraordinary engineering.

 

As a Software Engineer II within Research & Development, you will build the tools that power the content creation workflows in the Unreal Engine to make developers more efficient! You will use your understanding of the entire software development lifecycle, work with state-of-the-art technology, and explore new solutions to surprise and delight our players. You will report to the Tools Engineering Manager of the project.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-discipline developers to gather requirements for workflow improvements

• Design, build and maintain tools/processes to support cross discipline efforts

• Participate in and guide technical design and implementation

• Contribute substantially to the codebase

• Oversee the quality and maintainability of your code

• Mentor junior engineers

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of gameplay development experience

• 2+ years of experience building tools for a cross-disciplinary team

• 2+ years of experience building tools using Unreal Engine

• Strong knowledge of common game and software design patterns

• Strong ability to collaborate with teammates across multiple disciplines

Desired Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience using Unreal Engine

• Deep knowledge of modern C++

• Experience working collaboratively with other engineers on technical design and implementation
