Job Description:

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a Professional to oversee and manage our Controller, Communications, and Human Resources Divisions. JOB DUTIES:

As NDOT’s Deputy Director of Administration, you will:
• Provide policy recommendations and guide implementation of strategic initiatives impacting Human Resources, Controller, and Communication Division functions, as well as provide leadership support to the Aeronautics Division.
• Provide support and guidance to staff members to help them develop their skills and careers.
• Work closely with government officials such as FHWA, AASHTO, State and Federal entities, Legislative representatives, the Governor’s Budget Office, as well as private entities.
• Provide technical expertise on all matters pertaining to workforce development, state and federal funds management, and innovative financing; provide oversight and direction for public communication and NDOT procurement; identify and advise of State and Federal legislation impacts on NDOT business processes.
• Stay knowledgeable of trends and current developments relating to responsibilities within assigned Divisions.
• Monitor the performance of all three divisions and identify areas for improvement.
• Provide excellent leadership to manage and integrate innovative financing to meet agency needs.
• Assist the Director in a variety of assignments relating to organizational goals and objectives, strategic planning and priorities, department-wide initiatives, special projects, operational efficiencies, fiscal activities, and administrative-related services.
• Participate in decision-making processes and provide guidance and support to the Director.
• Assist the Director in managing budgets and financial resources.
• Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events.
• Work closely with local/state/federal agencies, leadership, teammates, and colleagues to help drive NDOT initiatives and projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


 

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the related fields such as business administration, management, engineering, or public administration. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience connecting and integrating strategy across multiple teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progressively responsible experience supervising, leading, and managing complex transportation teams within an organization.
  • Fifteen years of management and leadership experience in transportation, project and program management, funds management, and workforce development.
