Are you ready to go beyond?

Pratt & Whitney is looking for a Senior Structures Engineer to join our Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles (MSEN) structures team, focusing on structural analysis for military engine programs.

What You Will Do:

  •  Perform analyses to demonstrate the durability and structural integrity of MSEN components; Execute structural analysis across all product life cycle phases, including design, testing, certification, delivery, and post-production support; Hardware to be analyzed includes bearing compartments, gearboxes, lube pumps, oil tanks, tubes, mount brackets, and ducts.   
  • Oversee MSEN component health during validation tests (engine and rig), analyze data, and ensure test objectives are fulfilled.
  • Conduct field investigations and evaluate components using finite element analysis and traditional methods for strength, vibration, fatigue, and damage tolerance.
  • Participate as the structure's representative and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design solutions that meet durability, performance, cost, and weight requirements; participate in multi-disciplined integrated product teams and present analysis results to Pratt & Whitney leadership and customer representatives.
  • Advance technology, refine engineering processes, document analysis findings, and present results to management and customers.
  • Travel up to 5% (Domestic).

What You Will Learn:

  • Utilize state-of-the-art analytical methods to validate the structural integrity of Mechanical systems and Externals hardware
  • Be part of an integrated product team with responsibilities for executing FEMs, performing lifing analyses, and writing technical reports.
  • Responsible for planning, execution, and completion of structural analysis supporting engine test validation activities
  • Communicate technical progress and status to various program groups, senior management, as well as internal/external customers. 
  • Be a member of the broader MSEN structures community and support the strategic development and growth of the structures discipline health.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Engineering and 5 years of engineering experience with structural analysis experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field with 3 years of engineering experience with structural analysis experience. 
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or actively pursuing an advanced degree. 
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
  • Skilled in Ansys Parametric Design Language (APDL), ANSYS Software (Workbench), CATIA, MATLAB, Performance Product Definition, Siemens Teamcenter.
  • Experience in Tubes and Vibration, and Mechanical Systems components.
