MISSION STATEMENT

JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Total Rewards will be a strategic and operational leader responsible for the design, implementation, and management of Cresco's total rewards strategy. This includes compensation, benefits, and employee well-being programs that are competitive, sustainable, and aligned with the company's goals, culture, and values. The role requires a deep understanding of the cannabis industry's unique challenges and opportunities, particularly in attracting and retaining top talent in a rapidly evolving market. This role reports to the VP, Total Rewards.

CORE JOB DUTIES 

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of innovative and equitable total rewards strategies that attract, motivate, and retain top talent.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to ensure our compensation and benefits offerings are competitive and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the annual compensation processes, including salary planning, budgeting, and variable pay programs.
  • Lead the design and administration of employee health, welfare, and retirement plans.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and HR partners to ensure the total rewards strategy supports the company's strategic objectives and operational needs.
  • Oversee the management of benefits vendors and third-party administrators, ensuring programs are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop and implement wellness initiatives that promote employee health and productivity.
  • Ensure that all total rewards programs are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide leadership and development opportunities for the total rewards team.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS  

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; advanced degree or certification (e.g., CCP, CEBS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within the cannabis industry or similar fast-paced, evolving sectors.
  • Strong understanding of compensation and benefits laws and regulations, market trends, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement total rewards strategies that meet business needs and improve employee engagement.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and working with benefits brokers or consultants.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and compensation management tools.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
  • Experience in both human resources and finance departments.
  • Knowledge of legal and financial terminology.
