Job Description
The Tundra Wilderness Tour is a 5 to 6 hour long tour that travels to approximately mile 42 of the Denali Park Road at the East Fork Bridge. Located in Denali National Park, this position is highly visible to many Denali National Park Visitors. TWT Driver’s are responsible for providing a safe and comfortable tour experience into Denali National Park while providing a compelling narrative centering on the natural and cultural history of Denali National Park. TWT Driver’s must have a Class B CDL with a passenger endorsement, 9 months verifiable commercial driving experience and a clean driving record. Certified Interpretive Guide Training is available for the right candidate. Previous customer service experience and interpretive training is preferred.
About Denali National Park: Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture is the Denali National Park Concessionaire. Open May to September, our guests come to take in the majesty of Mount Denali, the highest point in North America. Our operation manages the transportation, retail, guest service and food and beverage concessions with our client; Park Service. The park welcomes over half a million visitors per year. By road, the area is 5 hours from Anchorage and 2 hours from Fairbanks. Buses traverse the 90-mile road daily throughout the warm summer months, allowing people to hike, view wildlife, climb, and camp.
Job Responsibilities
• Responsible for the safe transportation of guest, employees, and/or goods
• Assist guests with inquiries about the property/area; facilitates guided tours where applicable
• Maintains cleanliness, fuels, and performs inspections on vehicle
• Adheres to policies and procedures regarding emergency and accident procedures and radio protocol
• Performs all job duties in a safe manner by adhering to all driving regulations, company safety policies and procedures, and DOT regulations
• Maintains a friendly, efficient, and positive demeanor towards guests, clients, and co-workers
• Responsible for creating tour focusing on the Denali National Park’s wildlife and natural/cultural history. It must meet or exceed the National Park Service interpretive standards.
• One tour a day is given, either in the early morning or mid-afternoon.
• Extensive driving and interpretive training is provided at the beginning of the season, along with ongoing coaching as needed.
• Employee will be responsible for maintaining all federal and state requirements for holding a Commercial Drivers License and will abide by all rules, regulations and company policies in regards to operating company vehicles.
• Employee is responsible for general knowledge of corporate environmental policies and procedures and how they relate to their job functions.
• Employee is responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position.

Qualifications
1. Applicants must have an education or previous experience in interpretation, environmental education, ecology, biology or any natural sciences.
2. A Class B Commercial Drivers License with airbrakes and a passenger endorsement as well as three years previous bus driving experience is required for this position.
3. Ability to meet NPS Interpretive Standards.
4. An ability to work in a team environment and in close quarters is desired.
5. Must have effective communication skills.
6. Must have excellent customer service skills.
7. Knowledge of sub-arctic ecosystems is a plus.
