About the role
Description
The Physical Therapist Assistant will:
- Demonstrate essential skill competencies in the delivery of patient care in an in-patient or out-patient setting, adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
- Use effective communications skills to facilitate exchange of ideas for quality patient care with patient/family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside community contacts.
- Be open to feedback and receptive to change as evidenced by feedback.
- Complete all necessary tasks and responsibilities that support the daily operation of the department.
- Maintain competency by participating in professional growth and development and internal/external educational activities.
- Act in accordance with the Standards of Conduct and Ethical Practice of APTA, the Vermont Practice Act, and hospital and department policies.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Outpatient/Acute Inpatient Experience (preferred)
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in Vermont in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Physical Therapy evaluation, reassessment and treatment techniques.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems.
