Job Overview

Georgetown is in the public phase of the university’s most ambitious fundraising campaign to date - Called to Be - which has a $3 billion goal and the ambition to receive roughly half of those donations from P&T donors. OA exists to support the mission and strategic ambitions of Georgetown University with an engagement-driven approach to fundraising. The Principal & Transformative Gift (P&T) Operations program at Georgetown University’s Office of Advancement is a centralized program which acts as the primary operational project manager, coordination point, and strategic partner for front-line fundraising colleagues and advances prospective donor strategies where the donor has the capacity to make principal ($5M+) and transformative ($10M+) gifts. Closely partnering with colleagues across both OA and the university, this team - led by the Senior Director, P&T Gift Operations - will help to shepherd the highest-level prospects and gifts solicited by a high performing team of front-line fundraising team from cultivation to stewardship. 

The P&T Operations team -  within the Campaign Management and Donor Experience (CMDX) team - works closely with colleagues on the Development, Business Operations, and DATA teams to accomplish their work.

The Senior Director of P&T Gift Operations serves as the central node for P&T donor strategies ensuring all parties involved have the right information and resources to facilitate gifts for the university. They also serve as a creative and strategic thought partner with colleagues, with an eye towards moving gifts and/or prospects through the pipeline.  

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President, Campaign Management and Donor Experience (CMDX), the Senior Director, Principal & Transformative Gift and serves as a member of the CMDX leadership team and manages the Assistant/Associate Director of P&T Operations and the annual operational planning efforts for the team.

As well, they act as a center-spoke for all tracking, coordination, and engagement related activities for P&T opportunities and prospect engagement and, in doing so, closely partner with Development, Business Operations, and DATA teams (chiefly the Prospect Development team--Senior Director and P&T Researcher) to drive next steps and internal coordination. While not necessarily directly responsible for next steps, the Senior Director has a critical role monitoring and facilitating completion of next steps.

The Senior Director ensures clear and regular communication with fellow CMDX teams (i.e., Donor Engagement, Stewardship, Strategic Initiatives, Presidential Engagement, and Campaign Planning) regarding pertinent P&T prospect engagement and strategy; and regularly interacts with the Office of Advancement and University leadership, including the offices of the President and Provost.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience -  preference for a Master’s degree
  • 7 to 10 years of non-profit fundraising experience – preferably in higher education fundraising
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Workplace – preference for experience with Salesforce CRM or similar development CRM systems
  • Strong operational and logistical skills
  • Strong communications skills and demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability and natural inclination to work collabor
