As a Senior Software Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission critical applications in travel domain specifically supporting Sabre Red product. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining systems and processes that minimize downtime, enhance system efficiency, and improve the overall user experience. This role requires a deep understanding of both software development, Google cloud infrastructure and systems administration, along with a strong focus on automation and continuous improvement.

Sabre Red product is focused on developing and maintaining platforms that support the distribution needs of our Travel Solutions partners. The platforms connect over 200,000+ suppliers/global distribution solutions to some of the world’s largest online and offline travel agencies. All the applications are high volume, multi-instance, critical, and deployed in Google cloud platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable systems and services.

  • Analyze system and application architectures to identify and mitigate potential reliability bottlenecks.

  • Set up and maintain robust monitoring and alerting systems to detect and respond to issues proactively.

  • Define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) to measure system performance.

  • Lead incident response efforts, coordinate with teams during outages, and perform post-incident analysis to prevent future occurrences.

  • Troubleshoot complex system issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent solutions.

  • Monitor system performance and make recommendations for capacity scaling and performance improvements.

  • Optimize resource utilization to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining reliability.

  • Collaborate with security teams to implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Participate in security incident response and vulnerability management processes.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and best practices.

  • Mentor and train junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.

  • Identify areas for process improvement and drive initiatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to propose innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

Must have:

  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).

  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and system administration.

  • Strong knowledge on Google cloud platform services and Terraform infrastructure as a code (IaC) tool.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Proficiency in using application performance monitoring, infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, AppDynamics etc.

Nice to have:

  • GCP specific certifications

  • Site Reliability Engineer (CSRE) certification

  • Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts can be beneficial for enhancing system automation, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance.

  • Experience with DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines and collaboration tools like Jenkins, Git, and Jira, can improve the integration of development and operations processes.

  • Expertise in specific technologies, such as Cisco, Palo Alto, or F5 networks
