Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Director, Programs 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on our F-35 Program. In this role the candidate will report directly to the Director of  F-35 Fleet Readiness and Sustainment and will have profit & loss responsibility for execution of our Support Equipment Portfolio, which includes support equipment procurement and delivery. This role partners with the F-35 Industrial Base Suppliers in executing the F-35 Support Equipment statement of work. This position manages a workforce deployed at multiple sites across the United States and will be located onsite in El Segundo, California.

The program leader is responsible for leading all phases of the program life cycle from inception (proposal development) to execution, and through to completion (contract closeout). Primary responsibilities are the management of quality, cost, schedule, and technical performance of F-35 Production contracts, including but not limited to:

  • Cultivating customer relationships and intimacy to develop executable production plans within the customer community

  • Directs procurement of all F-35 support equipment to include all build to print equipment across the F-35 variants

  • Responsibilities include planning, risk management and project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for all aspects of program performance on a large build to print procurement contract

  • Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications

  • Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, supply chain, and administrative areas also directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers

  • Accountable for results that impact sector AOP & LRSP outcomes (program performance, financial performance, growth, etc.); decisions have significant implications for sector

  • Developing strategies to expand multi-year contracts and obtaining customer funding in support of long lead requirements.

  • Driving predictable program performance, including regular measurement and management of key performance metrics

  • Delivering presentations to customers, executive management, and other program stakeholders

  • Participating in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions

  • Development and adherence to program, business, and technical baselines, including use of tools such as Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Conducting thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization

  • Managing suppliers to meet program objectives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years (or Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline and 9 years) of related experience; or Master’s degree with 8 years (or Master of Science in a STEM discipline and 7 years) of related experience

  • Related experience includes progressive logistics operations, logistics program management or business leadership experience inclusive of supply chain, logistics, & procurement operations

  • Must have significant P&L with integrated program team or CAM experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries

  • The ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company to meet its business needs
