Reporting to the Lead, Business Improvement & Intelligence, the Senior Advisor, Business Improvement & Intelligence is accountable for working with on-site management to advise individuals in continuous improvement roles to improve competence, develop a business intelligence and improvement mindset and to provide consultation on business focused, data driven services. The Senior Advisor will work with site stakeholders to prioritize, plan, and advance initiatives in the sitewide Improvement Plan Roadmap.
Responsibilities:
• Align business improvement initiatives with the organization’s goals and objectives by working directly with various area leads to develop improvement roadmaps that drive improvements to site KPIs and meet strategic targets
• Lead and manage process improvement projects to drive efficiency and reduce waste
• Work with departments to evaluate ideas, drive organizational change management strategies, and sustain initiatives
• Coach and develop Idea Owners on change management, project management, and process development required for successful implementation and long-term value delivery of their improvement initiatives. More specifically, this includes coaching Idea Owners developing well-defined scopes and achievable workplans, measuring performance and value, and ensuring initiative quality and long-term value delivery through high-quality change management
• Conduct analyses to identify business improvement opportunities and initiatives to improve site performance through the application of an in-depth understanding of the mining business, key cost centers, business drivers and validate reported benefits against a common framework and methodology
• Facilitate data-driven idea generating sessions to identify, establish root cause, and resolve problems
• Use data-driven insights to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement
• Implement data analysis tools and methodologies to assess business performance
• Develop Business Intelligence solutions, including understanding future-state requirements, developing a future-state process map, investigating and selecting the correct technology, developing both the back-end and front-end solutions, and incorporating end-user feedback
• Coach and mentor others on a wide range of database and analytic techniques
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization including incorporating feedback
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field is required
• Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in a technical role, including a minimum of three (3) years in a Business Improvement role, preferably in the mining industry
• Experience using Business Improvement tools i.e. Root cause analysis, OEE, mistake proofing, DMAIC, 5S, and SMED is required
• Advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint, applications
• Strong Business Intelligence skillset, including ability to design and develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using industry leading tools and practices
• Proficient in data visualization tools such as Power BI or similar
• Programming experience in at least one coding language
• Strong interpersonal communication, written and verbal skills
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a team environment and work effectively across all levels of the business
• Walk on uneven ground, climb up and down stairs, work in a mill environment while wearing a respirator or PAPR, and
