Join Our Team at DCFS: Child Welfare Manager 2

The Child Safety Response Center Manager 2 position is essential to maintaining safe, consistent, and accountable operations within the Child Safety Response Center. The Center manages high-risk, time-sensitive matters involving the safety and well-being of children. These responsibilities require experienced leadership with the authority to make critical decisions, coordinate responses, manage escalations, and ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

The Manager 2 provides the level of operational oversight necessary to ensure that reports and safety concerns are assessed promptly, assigned appropriately, and handled consistently. This position is responsible for monitoring performance, managing workloads and staffing coverage, addressing complex cases, supporting supervisors and frontline personnel, and ensuring that urgent situations receive immediate leadership attention.

Examples of duties

Seven years of experience in child welfare; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in child welfare; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in child welfare; OR

An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus three years of experience in child welfare.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

A current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.

NOTE:
The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).

Supplemental information

Job Duties:
  • Directs the programmatic practice/oversight of the two (2) statewide programs providing child welfare
    services to children and families; specifically, the 24-hour Child Safety Response Program and Child
    Consultant Decision Making Program.
  • Administrative oversight of the Child Safety Response Center Operations and CPS Case Consultant
    Decision Making Program (Child Consultant Decision Making Program), including all personnel
    management for approximately 83 employees.
  • Collaborates with other DCFS executive management and team members to coordinate the interrelated
    responsibilities and activities of the respective divisions and to assure relevance and feasibility of
    programmatic initiatives.
  • Conducts staff meetings; prepares and delivers presentations at conferences, workshops and trainings,
    responds to requests for information from the media, the three branches of government and from other
    public and private agencies involved in various aspects of child welfare practice and research; an
