Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a meticulous Statewide Vehicle Coordinator. The primary duties of this role include establishing vehicle operation procedures, serving as a working supervisor, and managing the facility vehicle coordinators. Additionally, the coordinator will act as a liaison with CMS, collaborating on matters related to licensing, registrations, and fuel credit cards. This position also involves assisting in the development of related procedures, maintaining vehicle inventory systems, and preparing reports for audits and CMS reporting purposes. Essential Functions
- Serves as Statewide Vehicle Coordinator and Vehicle Use Officer for the Department.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Serves as liaison between institutions and the CMS Division of Vehicles.
- Assists in drafting procedures, listings, and memoranda related to vehicle functions.
- Conducts special projects and other surveys relating to vehicle inventory issues.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Specialized Skills
- Of the two (2) years of required administrative experience requires that two (2) years to be in agency fleet operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least two (2) years of administrative experience in fleet operations.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working with vehicles involved in accidents and following-up with all parties involved in accidents to ensure a resolution.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working with fuel card vendors.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and/or similar type of computer programs.
- Prefers working knowledge of State of Illinois fleet management and vehicle usage guidelines.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience applying accounting principles to the reconciliation of various reports.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience using a Statewide Accounting System.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in vehicle and/or property inventory control.
