Job Summary
The Scorekeeper is responsible to track and report scores and statistics for various sport programs. Knowledge of the sports is preferred but not required as training will be provided. Current hires will work flag football and softball, during the winter months transition to basketball and volleyball. Football and softball games are held mostly on Sundays (9am - 9pm broken into shifts), with the addition of more softball games on Mondays and Wednesday evenings between 6 and 9:30pm. The entire budgeted and approved wage range for this position is $13.00-22.50. The targeted hiring range is $13.00 to $15.00, please note minimum wage for those under the age of 18 is $13.00.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties
- Arrive fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled start time in assigned Park District uniform.
- Document game scores and statistics in writing (scorebook) and operate a manual and/or electronic scoreboard and time clock for each assigned game.
- Have general knowledge of the rules of the sport the scorekeeper is scorekeeping for, to properly score the game and fill out the scoresheets.
- In Basketball, properly operate the possession arrow on the scores table.
- Stay focused on the game and do not allow distractions while games are going on, such as looking at your cell phone. Wait until half time or the game is over to look at your cell phone.
- Assist Assistant Facility Manager in set up & take down of gymnasium equipment to include but not limited to spectator seating, goals, players benches, scorer’s table, etc.
- Assist Assistant Facility Manager in cleanup of gymnasiums, hallways, and restrooms prior to, during and after games to include but not limited to trash/litter pick up, sweeping, mopping, etc.
- Turn score sheet(s) and game statistics in to the Athletic Supervisor.
- Check all equipment and gym for safety hazards, correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor.
- If any injury occurs, report it to the Assistant Facility Manager so first aid can be administered, and an Accident/Incident form is properly filled out.

- Maintain a pleasant and professional image, understand Park District products and services, communicate with participants, handle problems politely and efficiently, follow procedures to solve participant problems.

- Maintain an enthusiastic and positive attitude. Work as part of a team and motivate others.

Communication
- Use appropriate subject matter in the presence of children.
- Use appropriate time keeping method/system to accurately record time worked in accordance with policy/procedure. Sign and timely submit time card to Athletic Supervisor.
Appearance
- Present a good personal appearance; follow dress code.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate the competencies listed above in addition to the following:
- Minimum of 14 years of age and able to obtain work permit which is required before work can commence.
- Ability to work well with program participants, parents, spectators, and fellow staff members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of Park District procedures.
- Ability to operate an electronic scoreboard with push buttons.
- Ability to document in writing game scores and statistics.
- Ability to work independently and is self-motivated.<
