Position Summary: Under general direction is responsible for processing and approving online membership and consumer loan application requests. Additionally, responsible for the efficient, effective, and accurate underwriting of branch C- and D-grade loan requests and performing income tax analysis and accurate document preparation for branch HELOC, second mortgage, and short-term first mortgage requests.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with rotating Saturdays from 9:00 am - 1 pm (current rotation is one per month)
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
- Primarily responsible for monitoring and processing online originated loan applications and preparing monthly reports for all personal activity and results to the VP of Consumer Lending.
- Assist the VP of Consumer Lending in the development and delivery of direct mail marketing for Westmark Branch and Full Service Lending Center offers including pre-approved loans, credit cards, and deposit products.
- Utilize the Full Service product offers to provide additional products and service to our members.
- Achieve quarterly, semi-annual, and annual goals as assigned by the VP of Consumer Lending.
- Embrace the Full Service Culture and make efforts to succeed.
- Underwrite branch C- and D-grade loan requests in a timely and accurate manner.
- Underwrite and process direct Take Two loans.
- Efficiently and accurately prepare loan documents for Home Equity, Second Mortgage, and Short-Term First Mortgage loans for branch lenders to ensure compliance with necessary regulations.
- Perform tax analysis for self-employed borrowers as necessary.
- Will complete loan reviews as directed by the VP of Consumer Lending.
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the VP of Consumer Lending.

Required Knowledge and Abilities:
- Effective oral and written communication, analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough knowledge of all Westmark loan products.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations commensurate with lending functions.
- Thorough understanding of Westmark’s lending policies and procedures, credit underwriting standards, and credit grading.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data sorting, data filtering, and formulas.
- Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Is goal and performance driven to succeed and obtain objectives assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Six months or more experience in lending at Westmark; OR other loan officer/lending training with one or more years of experience at another financial institution; OR a combination of relevant credit union and lending background or experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a financially related field with emphasis in business, finance, or accounting; or high school diploma and a minimum of one year of relevant banking or credit union experience; or a combination of formal education, training, and applicable experie
