Participants in the Engineering Development program rotate through various engineering departments within Collins, Landing Systems to learn all aspects of the design, test, analysis and customer support of aircraft wheels and brakes. The typical rotational program lasts 18 to 24 months with each rotation assignment lasting 6 months in duration. During each rotation, the Rotational Mechanical Engineer will support unique engineering assignments and responsibilities as required to support the design, test, analysis, and customer support of aircraft wheels and brakes focused specifically in Mechanical Engineering. Participants in the Engineering Development Program will off place into an engineering department upon completion of the program.

What You Will Do:

  • Research, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. 

  • Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. 

  • Evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency while also examining field installations and recommending design modifications to eliminate malfunctions. 

  • Participates in product development activities, executes tests, and produces parts, designs, or sketches, following all appropriate Mechanical Engineering design, safety, and qualification standards.   

  • Test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects. Produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
