Senior Manager Data Sciences
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for Amgen’s complex and dynamic clinical trial supply globally. The scope of the organization includes demand and supply planning, sourcing, manufacturing and distribution logistics to ensure efficient supply of clinical product to patients around the world. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will drive systematic utilization of data, analytics, artificial intelligence, and automation across all aspects of the business to reduce costs, speed and efficiency. As part of the Development Supply Chain Business Team, the Sr. Manager Data Sciences will interface across Amgen’s value chain in advancing projects and strategic deliverables for Development Supply Chain and Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic planning and development of data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence capabilities across Development Supply Chain
- Develop and execute proof of concepts (POCs) to validate new methodologies and technologies.
- Implement Digital Twin solutions to enable predictive analytics and scenario planning.
- Lead and mentor a team of 2-3 data scientists
- Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, supply chain, clinical operations, and product management teams.
- Ensure smooth handoff of completed POCs to the Product Management team for scaling and operationalization.
- Actively participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies (PI Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives).
- Utilize advanced analytics and machine learning to extract insights from complex datasets.
- Drive automation and process improvement within the Clinical Supply Chain.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of information systems and/or functional leadership experience
Or
Master’s degree and 6 years of information systems and/or functional leadership experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of information systems and/or functional leadership experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 10 years of information systems and/or functional leadership experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of information systems and/or functional leadership experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years in data science, supply chain focus.
- PhD/Master's in Data Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering field.
- Proven POCs and Digital Twin solutions experience.
- Experience managing and mentoring data science teams.
- Proficient in Python, R, SQL.
- Multiple years of hands on experience with simulation software such as Anylogic, Simio or FlexSim required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
