About the role

Position Overview: Natera is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our Accounting Team as the Director of Payroll & Equity Accounting. This role will be instrumental in managing the company's operations related to accounting, equity administration, and payroll administration processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and administration. This role is reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Accounting:

    • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, journal entries, and reconciliations.
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and footnotes in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
    • Lead on technical accounting and framework for complex PSU (performance-based stock units) and SBC accounting.

Equity Administration:

    • Manage and administer the company's equity programs, including stock option grants, restricted stock units (RSUs), and employee stock purchase plans (ESPP).
    • Partner with legal and HR teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to equity plan documents.
    • Communicate and educate employees on equity-related matters.

Payroll Management:

    • Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Collaborate with HR to manage payroll-related matters, including new hires, terminations, and benefit deductions.
    • Stay informed about changes in payroll legislation ( including tax legislation) and make recommendations for process improvements.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

    • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with policies and regulations.
    • Work closely with internal and external auditors to facilitate annual audits and quarterly reviews.

Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead and mentor a team of accounting and finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
    • Provide guidance and support for professional development and growth within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification is required.
  • Proven experience in accounting, equity administration, and payroll management, with a minimum of 8-10 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, equity regulations, and payroll best practices.
  • Preferred [not required] experience with equity administration software [Etrade] and ERP system [Oracle].
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong personal ethics and Integrity.
  • Be able to stay longer hours during GL close or special urgent projects.
