Senior Data Scientist

The candidate will create prototypes for new ideas/offerings and constantly improve existing products. You will analyze and synthesize data sets both from within Mastercard and beyond to bring powerful insights to clients.

We are looking for a team player who is ready to proactively collaborate with members of different teams to gather information pieces and use them to draw a bigger picture. We’re working in a rapidly evolving environment, and an applicant may lack knowledge in some specific area, but successful candidate should be able to solve problems on his own, being responsible and willing to learn without daily guidance.

Main area of our interest is finance, and it would be an advantage to have an experience in this field. Nevertheless, candidates from other knowledge fields are welcome as well, especially when they're curious and motivated to broad their expertise in fintech, econometrics, accounting, statistics, and related areas.

Services within Mastercard is responsible for acquiring, engaging, and retaining customers by managing fraud and risk, enhancing cybersecurity, and improving the digital payments experience. We provide value-added services and leverage expertise, data-driven insights, and execution.

Role

The Senior Data Scientist will be a contributor in helping Mastercard develop and deliver actionable insights and products. Specifically, the incumbent will:

• Translate business problems into scientific challenges and develop innovative data-driven solutions.

• Perform hands-on data extraction, analysis, cleaning, preparation, and modeling to ensure high-quality solutions.

• Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes, evaluating tools and technologies for future use.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and business units, to align AI-driven solutions with business objectives.

• Present findings and technical insights to diverse audiences at all levels of the organization.

All About You

• Ability to analyze complex data sets, uncover patterns, and develop innovative solutions to improve data quality and model performance.

• Strong knowledge of SQL (Hadoop is a plus).

• Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and AI algorithms.

• Proficiency in Python and R, along with experience using ML frameworks.

• Proven experience in end-to-end development and deployment of machine learning solutions (from data exploration to model deployment).

• Experience working with credit card data a big plus.

• A curious and critical mindset, with excellent problem-solving and scientific reasoning skills.

• Creativity and Innovation. Ability to think outside the box and constantly strive for more accurate and efficient ways to perform tasks.
