About the role

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, an AmLaw 100 firm, seeks a part-time Practice Support Assistant working on-site in our Charleston, South Carolina office.  This is an entry-level position that would assist in operational support for a multistate litigation team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, process-oriented, and proficient in using court and vendor portals for courts.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Operational support for 20+ person team, managing multistate caseload.
  • Prepare, submit, and track filings and e-filings through third party vendor and/or courts.
  • Reserve motion and hearing dates through court websites following local rules.
  • Manage filing confirmations, deadlines, and conformed copies in the document management system NetDocs.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel for e-service and liaise with vendors for account support.
  • Maintain awareness of court updates, procedural changes, and filing requirements.
  • Track, calendar and update calendaring of deadlines and manage trial countdowns.
  • Support attorneys with administrative tasks and ensure compliance with firm and court standards.
  • Organize, scan and electronically file in the document management system.
  • Prepare word processing work including, but not limited to, memos, letters and charts.
  • Perform data entry work in various databases.
  • Perform duties based on the needs of the supervisor, including administrative work and special projects.
  • This part-time role focuses on filing and e-filing processes, hearing date reservations, service of process, and coordination with vendor systems and attorneys.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma; college degree is preferred.
  • Law firm experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.  
  • Must have strong typing skills, accurate proofreading skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to take direction, ask questions and work independently with minimal supervision, where appropriate.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor, confidentiality, and team-oriented attitude.
  • The candidate should possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must be highly organized, have exceptional follow-through, be detail-oriented, and possess a professional demeanor and a positive, respectful attitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Excel.
  • Experience working with electronic databases including NetDocs and HighQ or similar document management systems.
  • Familiarity with Court filings, generally; California State Court filing procedures and vendor systems preferred.
