About the Position

We are seeking a versatile Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, with the ability to create clear, concise, and accurate documentation for both technical audiences (including developers) and end users. This role requires a deep understanding of technical concepts and the ability to translate complex information into user-friendly content. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have some experience in instructional design to develop effective learning materials.

This role requires a wide range of skills and abilities. The right candidate will enjoy working on diverse products and deliverables and building new skills.

Responsibilities

The Technical Writer/Instructional Designer will:

  • Create new or update existing customer- and internal-facing materials such as online help, user guides, administration, and configuration guides for software releases, while adhering to department processes and style guides. API guides and more technical guides may also be needed.
  • Become an expert in IQVIA software products and contribute to projects as needed.
  • Plan, design, and develop effective, engaging, and high-quality instructional materials such as eLearning and video, and maintain them for subsequent releases.
  • Assess the time, effort, and strategy of a project, manage against milestones, complete deliverables, and meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to the overall design, development, flow, and user experience of technical documentation and online learning. Where possible, suggest process improvements to benefit the team in terms of efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across functions to identify new features and enhancements and understand the audience’s needs.
  • Become skilled in Digital Adoption Platform development such as Pendo and work across relevant teams to design and build DAP content into the software.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of three years of technical writing and/or instructional design experience.
  • BA/BS degree or higher in Instructional Design, Technical Writing, Communications, English, or a related business field.
  • Experience with documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience creating engaging and effective eLearning modules using products such as Adobe Captivate or Articulate Rise/Storyline.
  • Experience with image editing tools, such as SnagIt or Camtasia.
  • Background in learning design using ADDIE/SAM or similar instructional design methodology, preferably in a SaaS and/or customer success environment.
  • Background in Digital Adoption Platform tools such as Pendo or WalkMe.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Windows, Word, PowerPoint).

Other Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven ability to convert technical or complex information and tasks into friendly, simple language.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as proofreading and editing abilities; familiarity with style guides (e.g., Microsoft Style Guide).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across business functions, including SMEs within engineering, support, user design, customer success, and others, to gather product and end-user knowledge.
  • Ability to work across international teams.
  • Innate curiosity and willingness to learn. The right candidate is a self-starter who requires minimal supervision and enjoys learning about the clinical trial industry and the products they are supporting.
  • A customer-focused, detail-oriented mindset with the ability to maintain a positive attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
  • Clinical trials business knowledge would be a great bonus.
