Job Description:
Department: Admissions and Recruiting
Position Title: Online Admission Counselor (this is not a remote position)
Supervisor: Director of Admissions
Responsibilities
- Process admission applications and determine admissibility of 100% online degree applicants
- Review, analyze, and evaluate documents from previous educational institutions for transfer credit based on LSUA policies and procedures for transfer students, including completing unofficial evaluations of transfer degree credit
- Verify the eligibility of students entering LSUA concerning academic bankruptcy, credit by examination, suspension, and probation
- Work with LSU Online staff to assist students with completing applications
- Counsel prospective students on admission requirements and processes
- Maintain working knowledge of curricula for the benefit of aiding prospective students with selecting an academic program
- Assist with special events on campus as needed
- Performs other tasks that may be assigned by the Director of Admissions or the Associate Vice-Chancellor of Enrollment Management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited institution of higher education
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, verbally, and in writing
- Ability to travel, including overnight travel
- Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, while remaining organized
- Demonstrated ability to represent the university with a positive and professional image
- Ability to present information to audiences, both small and large
- Experience with working with a team to achieve goals
- Hold a valid driver’s license and clear driving record
