Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Staff Systems Engineer to join its team of diverse and qualified individuals. This position will be located in Bellevue, NE, Roy, UT,, or Huntsville, AL and will support the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division. The SDS Division’s Advanced Programs organization within the Northrop Grumman Defense Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Our team is chartered with providing the skills and innovative technologies to develop, design, produce and sustain optimized product lines across the sector while providing a decisive advantage to the warfighter. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead research and development on prototype demonstrations supporting the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) mission area
  • Work with multi-disciplinary team members from numerous NG locations
  • Provide project management related to funding, staffing, schedule, and technical direction oversight to the internal research and development
  • Drive integrated solutions for future NC3 capabilities that NG will demonstrate to partners and customers
  • Lead presentations to government representatives regarding our NC3 prototypes
  • Produce prototypes that align to the Advanced Programs technical roadmap for the NC3 strategy

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field with 12 years of related experience; 10 years with a Master’s degree; or 8 year with a PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope (< 6 years)
  • Requires 4 years of experience with scripting and coding languages such as Python
  • Requires 1 year of experience with leading research and development efforts
  • Requires 1 year of experience guiding Agile scrum teams 
  • Requires 1 year of experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (i.e., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Requires 1 year of experience with model-based systems engineering tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience with Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes
  • Experience with other USAF strategic systems such as Sentinel, Minute Man III, B-2 or B-21 delivery systems
  • Experience with software defined hardware structures (i.e., software defined radars and field programmable gate arrays)
  • Experience with modeling and simulation programs such as the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM)
  • Experience with applying hypervisors, cross-domain solutions, multi-level security systems, or modular open systems approach to integrated systems
  • Self-driven, able to tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight and make recommendations for solutions/process improvement to leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
